BART VAN ZWEEDEN
WHY?

Why Painting?
Because I like to express what fascinates and occupies me. People, situations, human behavior, bizarre situations, it's all possible.
What is important in my work is that I always try to highlight what really interests me. A lot of work is covered with a so-called RedWash. Although it doesn't really have to be red, I provide many works with a transparent layer of oil paint, which makes it work as a filter. Filters tend to reduce the image in color. In my experience, color is not decisive; shape and light play a much more leading role.
I try to make work that fascinates people as much as I do. Then it is successful.
